Myths about hypnosis:
Myth #1: Hypnosis is an "altered state of consciousness."
Fact: Hypnosis is a totally natural state, experienced by all of us. It is not a mystical sixth dimension, but a natural process that takes you to a natural state of consciousness. We experience it everyday, like the first five minutes of sleep - we know we could open our eyes if we wanted to, but it feels so good to relax, that we don't.
Myth #2: Hypnosis is mind control.
Fact: Hypnosis in not something that is done to you, but with you. You have complete control before, during and after the session. You will never do anything against your will.
Myth #3: Only some people can be hypnotized.
Fact: We all experience this natural state everyday. We are always awake, asleep, or somewhere in between. That "in-between" is hypnosis. Everyone can experience it. There's no such thing as someone who's not hypnotizable.
Myth #4: Hypnosis is the best way to change.
Fact: Hypnosis is one tool of many, that can permanently change your life for the better.
Myth #5: Hypnosis can be dangerous.
Fact: Absolutely not. Once again, everyone goes into hypnosis. When you are intently watching an exciting movie, driving along a monotonous road, listening to music that captures a mood, you are in a light stage of hypnosis. When you are in a guided hypnotic trance session, or driving down the road in trance, you have an observer self, which is an actual part of you that is always aware and watching out for you. This observer self has been documented as a credible aspect of our mind, that keeps us safe, even when asleep. During hypnosis you can trust that your observer self will watch over you. This is not a guide or spiritual being, is a scientific discovery of a function of our brain.
